Dancing With Our Ancestors for Community Healing
You cannot move forward if you do not look back! Masankho K Banda believes that dancing with your ancestors is the act of connecting with who you are by using ritual to look back. You dance, sing, and share stories about your ancestors that bring you closer to your essential truth and set you on your transformational journey into the future.
In This Session:
- An understanding of the importance of constantly connecting with your ancestors
- You can learn a great deal from looking back beyond the ancestors you know, to those as far back as seven generations
- Music, dance, and stories intimately connect you to that which is deeply ingrained in your soul
Masankho K Banda
Masankho K. Banda learned the fine arts of storytelling and dance from his elders. In their company, he spent many long days and nights listening to stories and dancing to music that captivated his mind, nourished his soul, and strengthened his spirit. Masankho chose to devote his life to using dance, theater, music, drumming, and storytelling to inspire people of all ages to work together to bring about peace, social justice, and cultural understanding. Masankho is currently living in Oakland, CA and Lilongwe, Malawi, Central Africa where he continues to work for peace, justice & cross-cultural healing using the arts.
